What are the symptoms of a pet health emergency?

One of the most common pet emergencies is difficulty breathing. If your pet is having trouble breathing, making alarming noises, or puffing their lips while breathing, they may require urgent care. Other symptoms that you watch out for include weakness, collapse, and behavioral changes. These symptoms may indicate internal issues such as poisoning, internal bleeding, cardiac compromise, and organ failure. Major trauma, such as your pet being hit by a car, also requires immediate veterinary care.

What checkup and exam services are provided during urgent care?

We provide weight evaluations, full physicals, and administer standard laboratory and blood tests. We also inspect urine, fecal, and blood samples to test for systematic issues, infections, bone disorders, and cancer.

What conditions do you treat?

At Animal Medical Center in Lubbock, TX, we can assist with several issues including gastrointestinal distress, allergies, heatstroke, dehydration, vomiting, diarrhea, ingested objects, hypothermia, and poisoning. We can also assist your pet when experiencing difficult labor and joint damage. If your pet needs additional care due to a past wound or surgery, we are ready to help.

What are the signs of heatstroke?

Heatstroke is a precarious medical emergency that requires urgent care. The symptoms of heatstroke include weakness, staggering, bloody diarrhea, vomiting, excessive drooling, glazed eyes, excessive thirst, and heavy panting.

How should I handle pet emergencies?

When your pet gets sick or injured, you should assess their condition to determine whether they need urgent care. After that, you can call our animal hospital to make an appointment with our veterinarian or walk-in to the clinic. When you call us, you should explain the symptoms of your pet so that our staff can prepare for your pet’s arrival.

Do you accept walk-ins?

Yes!  We are here to help and accept all walk-ins whether you are a present client or not.
